Clelia Adams
Clelia Adams country music singer songwriter, is a well-established musician, appearing at various locations worldwide for example Condong, Lismore, Mullumbimby and festivals at Gympie Muster, Cedar Guitars and Clarence Valley Muster.
Her radio single ‘Play The Song‘ was taken from the album ‘River Valley Dreaming’ and entered the Australian Countrytracks Top 40 at number 27. It also did very well on the German charts. She attained highest chart positions in Italy and Sweden at No 1 on the ECMA chart on Feb 9th 2013.
Special thanks to country music presenters who played & complimented Clelia on her version of Bob Dylan’s ‘Forever Young‘ (Hillcrest 75 – Dec 14 Christmas compilation). This track was recorded in l996 and is included on The Archives bonus CD of the ‘River Valley Dreaming’ album.
When Clelia first heard her radio single ‘PLAY THE SONG’ by Joey & Rory, she knew immediately that she had to record it! Powerful lyrics speak out against the corporatisation of the various music industries, including country music. This is old school country with rock n roll attitude. This country artist is celebrating success in both Australia and Europe. Her track ‘My Baby’s Love’ (‘Jessie’s Song’) topped the Top 40 International Singles Chart in Europe. “Play the song, play the song. Let the people decide if the music is right or it’s wrong”.
With ‘Play The Song’ Clelia Adams is proving that experience and consistency pays off in a musical world often dominated by youth. ‘The Captain and the Gypsy‘ was a finalist in the Southern Stars Independent Awards for the Capital News Female Vocalist Of The Year in 2016. A member of the Australian country music scene since l975, Clelia is blown away by the response her songs are receiving.
“My music is released into both Europe (Hillcrest) and Australia (CRS) and over the past 15 years I have made so many dear friends and supporters in country music. These are the rewards of consistency as an artist and the loyalty of the global country music family. As an independent I’ve invested in myself and people believed in me and my music. You simply cannot achieve these accolades without the support of the media and country music presenters. You just can’t buy it and for that I’m so very grateful.”
Original Music: Both tracks were written from true stories that are close to the Italian born singer-songwriter’s heart. “Truth is always so much better than fiction and resonates with listeners. I think “three chords and the truth” songs have integrity and to me are the best.”
‘My Baby’s Love‘ (‘Jessie’s Song’) is Clelia’s love song to her daughter. It came about when she was hospitalised for a burst appendix and heard her daughter’s new song on the radio in the middle of the night. “What are the chances of her uplifting gospel song being played that very night to minister to me in my time of need? I believe it was Divine intervention.”
‘The Captain and the Gypsy‘ tells the story of meeting her husband Rowly Taylor, a seafaring man.
“We were so different yet we had the same common values and now enjoy a large united family with three grandchildren. We often laugh about who is the real gypsy and who is the real captain because we’ve both covered thousands of miles in our travels.” The Southern Stars Independent Awards was held on October 1 2016 in Mildura, Victoria.
